The
Blind Roosevelts formed in 1997 and within weeks of the first
rehearsal, was playing various Chicgoland and Northern Illinois
venues. Originally a four-peice ensemble (including
Don Mills on Bass/Vocals and
Gary Enerson on acoustic/vocals), the
BR's sound was a mix of acoustic/electric rock laced with strong
vocal harmonies. The idea was to perform music that would keep the
audience entertained and wanting more.
The
blending these four musicians attracted a following who, over the
years, have added to their numbers by word of mouth. Audiences who
happened upon a BR show were returning again and again because of
the variety of songs being performed (Matchbox 20, Train, Counting
Crows, Beatles, Mellencamp, BoDeans, Tom Petty, Third Eye Blind,
and the like).
In
2003, after a couple of roster changes, the two remaining original
members, Don and Gary, brought in three new members to join the
line up. Both Brian Dameron (drums)
and Bill Pitts (guitar) were recruited
from Don's previous band, Wave Estate. Jimmy
Perrino (keyboards) was brought in from the band Liquid
Blue. This added even more variety to the songlist and provided
opportunities to explore different musical directions.
In
addition to playing covers, the BR's are known to throw original
music into the mix and are currently writing new material to debut
in the not too distant future...
